In May, Disney Plus will be streaming all nine of the Star Wars movies in the Skywalker cycle — and to promote the collection, the streaming department has begun a series of concept-art takeovers covering the franchise’s four decades.

The first design revive for Disney Plus since its debut in November 2019, leveraging its devoted brand pages to spur viewers to get sucked into the galaxy far, far away. The Disney + homepage was updated: It now shows Star Wars concept art from Ralph McQuarrie, the legendary designer and illustrator, from his painting of the droids in the desert. From now, Disney + users will be able to navigate to a brand page. The new design features three days before “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” will be available worldwide on the streaming service.

The takeover continues on Star Wars Day (May 4th), each film and series updated to demonstrate its original concept paintings all the way from “Star Wars: A New Hope” to the “The Mandolarian”. The following titles will be available in the saga:

  • A New Hope (1977)
  • The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
  • Return of the Jedi (1983)
  • The Phantom Menace (1999)
  • Attack of the Clones (2002)
  • Revenge of the Sith (2005)
  • The Force Awakens (2015)
  • The Last Jedi (2017).

Moreover, Disney + will also show concept art for other Star Wars films and series, this includes: “Rogue One,” “Solo,” “The Mandalorian,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, “Star Wars: Rebels” and “Star Wars: Resistance.”

According to Michael Paull (Head of Disney Streaming Services): “The unique brand-centric architecture of Disney + gives us the opportunity to get creative with how we showcase and engage fans around the content,”
